First Aid Courses

CTAS Education offers friendly relaxed first aid courses. We provide resources that promote correct technique and skills when providing a range of first aid procedures.
Our Assessors satisfy the standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) 215/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
Enrolments are being taking for individuals who wish to attend our public courses, at various locations throughout Western Australia. We also invite group bookings at a suitable venue.

Our CTAS First Aid Student Handbook will provide further information regarding attending first aid training courses with CTAS Education.

HLTAID004- Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
Overview
This nationally recognised unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The unit applies to educators, teachers, family daycare educators, creche workers and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

This unit of competency may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2012). Specific licensing requirements, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and/or relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority- http://www.acecqa.gov.au/first-aid-qualifications-and-training

Entry Requirements
As per the training package, there are no formal prerequisites required for you to enrol in HLTAID004- Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting, however a sound understanding of the English language is a must. For this reason, applicants will be required to complete at the time of enrolment a short assessment to ascertain their language, literacy and numeracy level. At enrolment, each individual must have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) to study any qualification or short course in Australia. To create a USI please visit www.usi.gov.au

$150* per person
*The course fee is the maximum indicative fee and is subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.

Courses are regularly held at the CTAS Training Room in Cannington

However, courses are also held at various locations North and South of the River

Duration
One-day session (7hrs excluding 0.5hr break)

  • Assessment booklet completion (various activities)
  • Observations/simulation scenarios
  • Incident report writing
  • Learner-provided evidence
  • Supplementary oral questions (if required)

HLTAID001- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Overview
This nationally recognised unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings, including educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a CPR emergency.

This unit of competency may contribute towards approved CPR training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2012). Specific licensing requirements, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and/or relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority- http://www.acecqa.gov.au/first-aid-qualifications-and-training

Parent First Aid Course 
Overview
This course informs parents with children of any age how to confidently respond in the event of an emergency.

Our courses provide current and relevant first aid training with opportunities to practise your skills in a relaxed and safe environment.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites required for you to enrol into this course. However, a sound understanding of the English language is desirable.
Cost
$90 per person
Location
Parent First Aid courses can be held at a location suitable for the group size.

The course can be hosted in the home or in a public venue for hire, or can be held at the CTAS Training Room in Cannington.

Approximately 3hr session

  • Basic life support (DRSABCD)
  • Performing CPR
  • Respiratory and breathing emergencies:
    choking and asthma
  • Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
  • Drowning
  • Childhood illness, high temperatures and febrile convulsions
  • Injury management including burns, bleeds, head, spinal, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
